** Belle **

Belle and her whole family were on death row in Memphis, TN shelter (MAS) . Belle was a homeless, single, young mother left on the streets to fend for her family. She was very thin, mainly due to her internal parasites and poor nutrition ; but was still a good provider for her 8 pups. Belle's family was saved when the pups were only 4 days old. Sadly, 4 of the pups perished; but Belle and the rest of the family survived .

Belle 's new family is from NJ, and were approved to adopt a "small child safe" dog from NJ GSD Rescue. They had been searching a long time to find the right dog. When they saw Belle on our site they just knew she was the one, so they waited for her to be ready to start her new life separate from her pups. Belle now lives with her new family and enjoys long conversations with her new mom , who a stay at home mom and writer. Belle continues to demostrate he uncanny intelligence and amazes her family everyday. She also has three playmates, including Otto, their senior GSD mix. It was not love at first sight for Otto and Belle! (sometimes is takes a little while to adjust); but now the entire family is inseparable..........well worth every minute of the wait!

** Aaron (alias Frankie) **

Aaron is one of Belle's surviving pups. This boy found a home in CT and is now a pampered part of a loving family. Aaron was the largest and boldest of Belle's pups , who was remarkable comfortable in any situation His happy go lucky behavior and brains have made her a huge hit! Aaron now lives with Chinese Crescent and three legged cat. He has quick moved into his role as friend and I'm sure some day, as protector.

** Dakota **

Dakota came to New York with her mom Delilah and brothers and sisters-all the way from Arkansas! They were in a shelter in very bad conditions, but were taken in by a kindly family in Arkansas until they were old enough to come here to BrightStar. She lived with her brothers and sisters for quite a while and then had a brief stay in a foster home before she was snatched right up by a family who really knew what a great find she was. They are enjoying this great puppy! Her new parents are one of BrightStar's veterinarians, Dr. Linda Schneider, at Macedon Veterinary Care, and her husband, Jim (our founder's brother) and they fell in love with her cute Dobie/ Shepherd face.

Dakota fit right in with her ten year old Doberman brother Tobey and is learning all sorts of things from watching him. She also co-habits with two cats, Smokey and Bandit which she enjoys chasing around once in a while. She spends weekends on the couch watching sports with her dad, can go to work with her mom and will be going to obedience AND agility classes soon! Dakota is one of the sweetest and most wonderful puppies we have had the pleasure to help and is going to live her life out with the love and care that all dogs deserve.

** Arek **
Arek had been part of a neglect case previous to his BrightStar life. You'd never know it now! He's living the life.

He was adopted by a Nick & Joyce. (In the picture is their granddaughter, who visits many times a week. She and Arek fell in love with each other at first sight!)

He has a great family, a fenced in backyard, and a pool to try out when the warm weather returns. He and his Dad graduated obedience class with flying colors. (This helped to firm up thier bond with each other.) He takes his Dad places to continue his socialization, and his family loves to show him off.

** Colt **
Colt is living happily ever after with his "forever family" in the Saratoga, NY area. He has a cat, a bunny, and a wonderful 8 year old girl to play with - along with his new "Mom and Dad".

BrightStar rescued Colt from a shelter in Vestal, NY, where he had been found running the streets with a female companion. His companion adopted out - but, Colt was still there and needed help. After just a few weeks in foster care, this large, very handsome, and very good natured boy was ready for a new forever home. He captured the hearts of his new family immediately, and it was love at first sight. Here is a note from his new "Mom":

I just can't emphasize how much we love Colt! He is such a joy to havea round. He LOVES playing frisbee everyday, loves going for rides in the car, going for dips in his pool, and always looks forward to his walks... Also, I'm looking into agility classes for Colt. I think he would thrive on that."- Karen
