Kina

(Updated: 5/29/07)
Kina is a female spayed 4 yr. old GSD. She is a sweet, obedient, intelligent and loyal companion. She loves to play fetch and is good in the car. She can adapt to another dog and has an excellent temperament. Kina came to me as a rescue from a shelter where she was dumped in deplorable condition.
Presently, Kina suffers from allergies and is on prednisone. She is on a home cooked diet. Kina seeks a home that would be willing to support her needs and financially be able to help her quality of life. Atopica is a drug that helps dogs like Kina, but it is expensive. Anyone living with a dog with allergies that would like to share helpful information it would be welcomed.
Anyone interested in adopting Kina or able
to help financially, please call Nancy at 516-868-0635.

Trelkez

(Updated: 9-25-07)
Trelkez - neutered male white German Shepher Dog who is 6-7 yrs old. He is up to date on his shots, knows basic commands, was an outside dog mostly but was allowed in house while owner was home, scared of thunder, not good with cats, not sure about other dogs and children. I met him yesterday and within five minutes he was loving all over me wanting back scratches and belly rubs. He loves his ball and will play fetch. He allowed me to touch feet and pull ears and tail with no reaction. He didn't like me pullin up gums but was not aggressive, just pulled away.
If you can offer Trelkez a forever home, please contact Amy at amybryant@hotmail.com

Sheba

(Updated: 02-25-08)
Sheba is a beautiful sable German Shepherd Dog with the sweetest and most loving disposition. Her age is unknown but she is probably 2-3 years old. She "found me" on Nov 2nd after she had been abandoned at the golf course in East Nashville. She was going door-to-door, even putting her head in the hands of my neighbors as they went inside & left her alone on their porch. The sweet big baby was friendly immediately and very happy to be welcomed into our home. Sheba recently had puppies, but she has been spayed, is HW- & taking Iverheart, & is up to date on all vacciantions. She had to have a mammary gland tumor removed (benign) Nov 7th. The vet gave her a clean bill of health regarding the tumor; however, she may produce more tumors which can go away naturally. The one she had was not treated, thus it had to be removed surgically. Sheba is a wonderful pack dog and lives with our 5 dogs & 2 other foster dogs. Trips to the dog park are a welcomed treat for her and she is well-behaved with all of the dogs and the people. We go on short walks together, but I am not active & prefer sitting & reading or playing guitar hero, thus she hasn't had a lot of quality training. She is, however, very responsive to discipline if you know what you're doing. She is housetrained and weighs about 82 lbs. She is neither food nor dog nor child aggressive. She may not do well in a home with small children being that she is huge and incredibly clumsy and doesn't know her own strength. Her initial reaction to men is to bark, but she warms up with a few treats. The playful side of her may entice her to chase cats, but I am unsure since we are not cat people. Sheba loves to sleep in bed with us, stretched out with her head on my pillow and scrooched up close, but she is content to sleep in a dog bed or on the sofa. She does not like being kennelled but she will tolerate it if you can tolerate her barking. If you keep food on your kitchen counters, Sheba will help herself when left alone. We have to close doors to rooms rather than use doggie gates since she will knock down the gates. She will need a fenced in yard since she goes her own way when not on a leash or when the door is left open. She loves to romp and chase with our dogs, but she loves the solo life of getting groomed and being a lap dog, too. Sheba has been my shadow since she came to us early Nov. She sits at my feet wherever I am and follows me everywhere I go. It has been a delightful learning experience to have Sheba the Shepherd in our home for the past few months. While I want to keep her, my husband reminds me that Camp Chaos cannot rescue damsels in distress like her if we have 6 dogs. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescued dog into your family!

Purty

(Updated: 11-30-07)
Purty is 10 yrs old. Her dad is disabled and is no longer able to care for his home. He is moving to an apartment, which unfortunately doesn't take dogs. Her smaller mixed breed buddy found a new home already. Purty is much loved, but needs some updating on her medical care. She is spayed. She hasn't been to a vet in several years, and therefore also is way out of date on shots and heartworm testing and prevention. She may not be entirely housebroken. She is sweet, and has the softest coat. She also has a cyst (visible in the pics) and a bit of arthritis. She is looking for a new home to live out her golden years!
For more info, or if you have a retirement home for Miss Purty, email Melinda, who is in contact with Purty's dad: Furrychaos@twcny.rr.com

Pamela

(Updated: 2-02-08)
Pamela is 5 yrs old & spent the last 2 years in the Ashtabula shelter. She is currently living here with 7 other dogs (5 Beagles, 1 Treeing Walker Coonhound & 1 Otterhound). She is very alpha with them but plays well with the smallest Beagle. She is great with humans but needs obedience training. She does tend to play rough with her mouth which, of course, we are discouraging. She jumps all of the house gates & our 6 foot stockade fence so we have to tie her out. She is not housebroken yet but will pee on a the pads I keep down for my senior seizure girl. She will poop outside most of the time. She is only crate trained to eat or when we eat or are in the vicinity. Otherwise, at night or if we leave, she will work her way out of the crate. If I put many clips on the door, she will work to get out until she is exhausted, panting & panicky. She has slight separation anxiety, when we leave, I make sure the blinds are up. She does not bark or destroy anything but the blinds. This could be a problem in the summer with open windows with screens. She "talks" when frustrated. Lays down & talks back at you. Otherwise, I have never heard her bark. Thank you for considering her.

Susie

(Updated: 2-02-08)
When Susie was a small puppy, only 4 weeks old... She was used as pit bull bait for fighting. She was thrown in with 2 pit bulls, and lay screaming as her two back legs were chewed off. She was left for dead, terribly drained of blood, energy, and spirit.
She has experienced unbearable pain, heart wrenching betrayal, and is now giving up hope FOR something as simple as a hug.
She was found, nearly dead. The rescuers rushed her to the nearest animal hospital, and the vet was able to save her, barley. It took weeks for her to get her energy and strength back. She grew up, into a somewhat normal, traumatized puppy. Because of her past, she has some animal aggression.
She is extremely food aggressive around other dogs, and doesn't like small dogs. Everything else about her is perfect.
She has a wheel chair, and a fake leg, and she does get around very well. She is 3 years old, and has been to many homes, and has been rejected too many times. Nobody wants her. She is alone, waiting for a home. Unloved.
She is just the reject, messed up dog to much. What she is really..is the wonderful spirit, who has been drained of all joy. She needs a permanent home. PLEASE... If you can rescue her.
She has experienced unbearable pain, heart wrenching betrayal, and is now giving up hope for something as simple as a hug. Can you change that for her?

Hank

(Updated: 02-05-08)
This handsome boy has been tied to a tree with only a barrel for shelter for most of his life. He is about 10 years old and still a peppy walker.
Hank is really a great dog in spite of what he has been through. He walks nicely on a leash which was a surprise - he is cautious around men but not aggressive in any way. He was around other dogs and seems fine with dogs that are calm - but he did not like a younger lab that was high energy. He is in no way dog aggressive - he would probably take a little time integrating into your household if you have other dogs but I do not think it would be impossible. He is very protective of his kennel space but most GSDs are and it is something you would expect from a dog that has been tied up and had to defend his territory his whole life.
He is on the light side and definitely needs to gain some weight and needs some good dog food to help his coat which is dry. Hank is neutered and up-to-date on all his shots.
Overall, he is highly intelligent and still willing to want to trust people. Hank is currently in a kennel situation and would love to have a family of his own. Hank is currently located in Georgia but would travel for the right family.

Brady

(Updated: 03-29-08)
Meet Brady! He is a male German Shepherd Dog who is about 6 years old. Brady is a sweet boy and very confused as to why his owner's family dumped him at the shelter. Brady's owner went to a nursing home and recently passed away. He loves his humans and is great with kids!
He does not get a long with other dogs.
Brady loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. Because of his dislike for other dogs, a country setting would be best for Brady.
We have discovered he has great house manners! He is happy to be beside his human.
Please help Brady findhis forever home!
For more info on Brady, please email Joanne at: lynchjf@watts.com
